Con-GRAD-ulations!
You've taken the midterms, turned in those papers, and done all you've needed to get that class ring. What else is there to do but smile in front of the camera to commemorate this milestone moment?
After photographing dozens of graduating seniors, I wanted to take some of my favorite observations and turn them into helpful tips for your photo shoot.
The Little White Dress
When in doubt, you can't go wrong with a classic white dress!
A white dress always pairs perfectly with your cap and gown, stole, cord, and all the accessories you can dream of.
Pro tip: add a fun, colorful shoe to jazz up your outfit!

Colors, Florals, Patterns...
Oh My!
This just in: florals are the new neutral. Trust me.
No matter the color of your stole, a fun pattern or floral design is the perfect way to complete your outfit.
Here are some of my favorite color combinations:
- Hot pink with orange stole
- Blue and white with yellow stole
- Literally any floral with every stole color

Everyone Got The Memo
When it comes to planning your group photos, the key is coordination.
I'll always be a fan of cohesion over matching. This not only adds dimension to your photos but allows everyone to showcase their personality!
Some of my favorite "themes":
- Pastels
- Florals
- Blues & White

Let's Talk Accessories
First thing's first, be yourself!
Your graduation photos should encapsulate your personality. Whether you throw on your cowboy boots, stilettos, or hokas, wear what makes you feel the most you and the most confident!
My favorite ways to accessorize:
- Shoes with a pop of color
- A customized stole
- Cowboy boots or hat
- Rings and earrings that feel like you
- Love a bow moment

That Little Something Extra
I've said it once and I'll say it again—your photo shoot should capture who you are at your core!
My favorite props:
- Champagne (I recommend bringing two bottles to make sure you get the perfect shot)
- Confetti poppers (check that your university approves of confetti on their campus; if so, get biodegradable confetti)
- Your four-legged friend (I promise your photographer will love that you brought your pet)
- A flower bouquet
- Your teacher name badge

Last But Not Least:
The Guys Guide
Y'all deserve to feel confident in what you're wearing too!
I'd recommend a few outfit options:
- Slacks, button-up, dress shoes (bring a jacket to throw on for some more formal headshots—especially if you're a business major)
- Jeans, polo, boots (bonus points if you have a cowboy hat too)
- Football jersey, jeans or shorts, boots or casual shoes
Also, don't be afraid of props.
Bring that champagne or beer and have your big moment!
